What's Aero?: Aero is a new feature of Vista/Window7 that presents translucent borders on windows. First introduced in Windows Vista, the underlying so-called "Aero" technology is now more widely used to provide new capabilities with Windows 7. Aero mostly makes the desktop look more Mac-like, and creates what most consider a highly desirable "cool" effect. Why is it a problem?: The technology behind creating the Aero effect is quite taxing upon the computer resources. This certainly and naturally has a connectivity effect on our link speed. But even more detrimental to the remote assistance is that it creates a HUGE drain on the amount of data transmitted between you and I when we are engaged in a remote assistance session. this is because of the complexity of the imagery that is exchanged from your "Aero" enabled window views. The bottom line is that we end up with a very slow link and as I execute various mouse and keystrokes (remotely) at your location, I may have to wait 30, 40 seconds or even a minute before I can proceed to the next step because of waiting for the completion of screen refreshes. What can be done about it?: That's simple... Just disable Aero... Only temporarily, while we are engaged in a service session. When we're done, re-enable it and you're back to using that "cool" effect that you so much enjoy.
For Windows7:
When we're all done with our session, just go back through the same steps above and re-select the Aero theme that you had been using. You are visitor Number 405 |
